Melenovsky Lab | IKEM
Laboratory of Molecular and Experimental Cardiology
About our research
The laboratory of professor Vojtěch Melenovský focuses on cardiovascular research, primarily investigating the mechanisms of heart failure and its pathophysiology. Their work integrates clinical research with experimental models, aiming to elucidate how various factors—such as metabolic disorders, inflammation, and vascular dysfunction—contribute to the development and progression of heart failure. The laboratory is distinguished by a multidisciplinary approach that combines: Clinical studies involving patients with heart failure, Molecular and biochemical analyses at the cellular and tissue levels, and in vivo models (such as animal models) to study cardiac function and its response to different therapeutic interventions. The findings from this laboratory often provide new insights into the physiological and pathological pathways that regulate myocardial function. Additionally, the team focuses on identifying novel therapeutic targets and strategies for the prevention and treatment of heart failure. Vojtech Melenovsky’s team is known for its collaborations with international research institutions and for publishing in prestigious cardiology journals, with research that significantly advances the understanding of heart disease.
